Revenue growth

How fast a company’s sales are rising or falling compared with a year earlier.

How it’s calculated

Latest reported revenue compared with the same period a year earlier, as a percentage change (year on year).

How to read it

Growing revenue is usually the starting point for growing profits. Comparing with the same period last year removes seasonal swings.

Acquisitions, disposals and currency moves can all change reported revenue without the underlying business changing.

How StockDecks scores it

Higher scores better. On the general benchmark, −10% counts as weak, +5% as typical and +20% as strong.

It is one of the measures behind the Growth rating. Every measure, benchmark and weighting is set out on the methodology page.
